THE TOOLS & SUPPLIES

A not-yet-comprehensive list of all that we offer in the art studio:- Posable art figures, posable hand figures, and various art education books.- Drawing & sketching supplies: Pencils, charcoals, pastels, and more!- Painting supplies, with a wide variety of paints and brushes to choose from. Acrylics, oils, watercolors, etc.- A variety of paper, plus an ink printer & scanner, laminator, and paper guillotine.- A 3D printer, with a variety of filament colors to choose from.- Photography equipment, including lighting, a camera, tripods, a lightbox for product photography, a green screen, plus phone holders & adjustable arms for filming your art process.- A 1.25" Tecre buttonmaker, plus supplies and circle punch.- Various colors of spraypaint. Can we really use ALL your supplies?
Yes! Well, within reason. We want these supplies to give people a chance to play around with materials they might not have access to, but if you're working on a huge painting that needs 100 gallons of blue paint, then we would ask you to please bring your own materials!
Got questions?
Just ask! There's a good chance we'll have whatever you're looking for. We have a good amount of specialized equipment; We just haven't gotten around to cataloguing it all yet.
What about power tools?
Unfortunately, we still need to figure out the insurance situation if we're going to be having people use power tools on studio grounds, for liability reasons. We'll keep you guys updated as soon as this changes.

REST & RELAXATION

We're artists, too. We know what it's like. Sometimes you hit a wall, and you need to clear your mind to get back into that creative headspace. We've got you covered. You can relax with friends or enjoy our catalogue of modern & retro games in the gaming lounge, located in the center of the studio.Or, help yourself to our sizable collection of boardgames for a more hands-on gaming experience. Our 4-person arcade machine is currently under-construction by our own team of artists, but it should be up and running very soon!If you're not into games, you can still relax in the second lounge and read a book, catch up on some television, or simply sit and doomscroll (we've all been there).

DYNAMIC FIGURE CREATION

Sundays at 2PM, starting June 14th.Wish you had a better understanding of the human form?Want to learn how to draw from imagination, and not just from reference?Want to learn from a teacher who's just as passionate as you are? This is a 6-week introduction course where students will learn how to lay out and compose a 3D figure in space.

BY JONATHAN DAVIS

Jonathan Davis is an artist and fabricator with degrees in Fine Art and Psychology, with works in collections both nationally and internationally. In his own words: "I just generally love to draw".Find him on Instagram.

What can I expect from this course?

The goal of this class is for students to be able to quickly compose and place a figure into 3D space. Since this is an introductory class, we will be delving further into these topics in the second course.

A word from the teacher:

When I was going through school, the whole concept of creating figures out of your head was considered anathema to the entire process of fine art. You were supposed to draw from life only. That’s nonsense.Understanding the human form well enough to create it out of your head also gives you a greater ability to process what you see for life drawing. I had to teach myself how to do it from books, but I would have preferred if someone was helping me.I want to be that help for others.

PRICING

This class is priced at $300 for the entire 6-week course (or $50 per session). For reference: You could be paying tens of thousands of dollars in tuition to get an art degree that doesn't even guarantee you a job. MINDFULNESS THROUGH ART

Sundays at 4PM.Take a breather and put marks on paper.Rebel against the “product” mindset and come relish in the “process” for once. Take your mind back to the space we all accessed more freely when we were kids. No judgment, no expectations, just wholesome hangs. The end goal of my class is for each participant to find their own practice in exploring creativity and mindfulness.Only $35/session; all supplies provided.

BY KAI OF DOODLEHAUS

Kai is a designer and former scientist that has found doodling to be a valuable part of her mindfulness practice. She focuses on creative experimentation and the process of making art.Find her on Instagram.

What can I expect from this course?

This class does not have a formal, sequential curriculum. Each class will start with a prompt, then there will be time to doodle, and finally, no-pressure discussion. If artists have a creative block and just need something different, or if someone needs a supportive environment to decompress, this is that space.

A word from the teacher:

Self-judgment! Shame! Creative paralysis! It takes intentional practice to overcome those things, and I hope this class helps students process some tough things and/or get out of their own way.
